By Good Small Stories
There was a village named Kripka near the ancient city of Pataliputra. It was 5miles away from the city and villagers need to visit the city on a daily basis for buying and selling of the products and services. There were no such shops in the villages. All they need is to visit the city every time. The river Kripi falls between the village and the city. There were two ways to reach the city either by crossing the river or via jungle. Neither of them worked because crossing the river would be difficult as there’s always heavy flow of water and the way of the jungle was dangerous because it was believed that there’s an evil Gripka who cuts the throat of all those who visited the jungle.
Hence the Mukhya of village Lala Muktananda urges the King of Patliputra Abhiraj to build a bridge so that it eases the villagers to visit the city. Abhiraj has little interest in those villagers as he has much more to do and the villagers are neglected as usual. Mudra the son of Abhiraj who handled the ministry of finance requested the king to consider the request of villagers as they add up something to their funds and taking such request the King ordered the construction committee to build the bridge and they did so in just a few months as the rainy season was about to start. The villagers were happy. It made their lives easy. And they thank Abhiraj for such a pleasure.
After some years
It was raining at midnight the rain started pouring into the village and suddenly a rumour spread that Gripka the evil person had entered the village and killed people by cutting their throat that panicked the villagers and led to stampede. Everyone was trying to reach the bridge so that they could travel to the city and save themselves. The villagers showed courage and marched towards the bridge , though everyone was frightened inside as what if caught by Gripka . Somehow they managed to reach the bridge.
Gee, It’s broken , the bridge is broken. Lala screamed with wet eyes. Everyone one was shocked to see this. Lala ordered Amrit who was a diver to inform Abhiraj about the situation as he was only hope now. Amrit dived into the river and suddenly he was thrown back from the river.
Don’t you foolish people dare to cross the bridge when a voice comes from the river.
Who you are ? Why are you blocking our way ? What do you want ? Lala added a series of questions.
A giant and dangerous monster with blood on his hand and long neck came outta river.
Gripka ! A hard voice that frightens everyone. No one will cross the bridge and go back to your place.
Why would we hear you ? You are a devil ? Said Lala with a frightened voice.
You do not have a choice. Obey what I said. Said Gripka and disappeared and took two of villagers Mitta and Bitta, the strongest fighters of the village.
Oh for god sake save them , they’re the wall of the village , they have saved many of our lives. Now it’s our turn to save them said the son of Lala.
Everyone one stays silent. The villagers spend night there only with fear of Gripka and worry of Mitta and Bitta.
Lala hears indistinct chattering that alerts him of attack and a troop of people attacked with arrows on them ,before he understood anything .
We are under attack, it’s black people , the unkind troop , the animals said son of Lala.
They have defeated Patliputra , our King is now a slave. Suddenly a friend of Lala from the city came to him with red eyes , teared clothes informed villagers. Now this is the biggest shock to villages.
Oh lord what made you so upset on us that things are getting worse second by second. Help us ! Prayed Lala.
The troop came near the village and started attacking.
Suddenly Gripka appeared with Mitta and Bitta and started defending villagers. Gripka holds the troop for enough time so that the villagers can go back and bring their weapons. And thus they fight against the troop.
Gripka and Mitta Bitta fought a lot to defeat the troop.
Mitta and Bitta are now more dangerous fighters than before , surely Gripka had trained them, said Son of Lala.
Finally the war ends. The villagers won. Gripka hurts the most, almost unconscious. The villagers helped him to recover his health.
How a throat cutter evil became a nice man asked Lala.
Gripka said , I was never evil , I was protecting the village from those black people. I love this village . My father Gripu made this village as you know and he told me to second the village.
But what about those bodies without a throat, you cut the throat of innocent people. Said Lala
No , those were informers of black people , I catch them and kill them. I broke the bridge to stop you from going to the city because I can’t help you there as my power is limited to the village hence I found this is the only way.
Why did you take Mitta and Bitta with you ? Asked Lala
Mitta and Bitta are the strongest and simplest fighters of the village so I took them and made them understand the situation and requested them to help me, they agreed to help.Said Gripka.
Villagers are now happy and thank god and Gripka for everything they did.
God is everywhere to help us all we need is to be strong and be ready to fight for right.
